TAKE ARTArts Development Organisation for Somerset
Founded in 1987 to run a rural touring programme, Take Art has grown to encompass specialisms around early years creativity, dance & theatre sector support, participatory arts & health projects including music, spoken word, dance and a county-wide rural touring programme.
We are a registered charity and part of the Arts Council England’s national portfolio of organisations, also supported by Somerset local authorities.
Take Art is a unique, life-changing organisation that doesn’t live in a venue, or studio or a whacking great theatre but most often and originally in the villages, towns and rural communities of Somerset. Our office is in a barn on a farm near South Petherton.
After 3 decades in the business of taking art out to where the people need it in Somerset and the SW region, Take Art is also now reaching its arms out across the water to our European cousins. We are sharing theatre practice, exploring links between local food and the arts and working together to form a European rural touring network.
