THE FITZWARREN COLLECTIVECommunity collective offering quality performance and composing opportunities
The Fitzwarren Collective is a group of musicians and other artists based in Somerset that come together under the direction of Jeannette Owen, who is a composer, musician and teacher.
The collective appears in various forms (e.g. trio, quartet, chamber orchestra) to premiere and perform new and bespoke music written by Somerset composers. Many of the works are influenced by the local landscape and history.
The music is primarily classically influenced but takes inspiration from a number of other styles and genres, such as blues, jazz, folk and choral music. We offer opportunities for soloists to perform with the collective, and have had music students and professional musicians performing concertos and other works.
The collective is a fluid organisation, with no obligation for members to perform in every concert with instead members signing up to concerts on a case by case basis. We are always open to other creatives joining the collective.
We hold a number of large and smaller concerts in selected West Country venues. Ticket prices are kept low, or free wherever possible, with under 18’s always attending at no cost at events held by the collective. We also perform at concerts and festivals held by other organisations.
